Women are known to encounter a host of digestive problems during pregnancy. All these problems stem from the fact that the uterus is at a growing phase. Once it is known to expand, the pressure is known to move outward and pressure is put on the wall of the stomach along with the pelvic veins. Pressure also extends to the stomach along with the rib cage. The female body does open up to house the fetus, it is not enough so as to keep the baby pressing against the stomach. It is pretty much like epilepsy medicine during pregnancy where a degree of relief is being provided.
Digestion along with indigestion issues during the course of pregnancy
When you speak about digestion during pregnancy, the female body should not be confused by the terms of digestion or indigestion during pregnancy. It has to be stated that the latter also does tend to occur when the fetus expands. When poor digestion occurs during pregnancy it could lead to a degree of indigestion as well. It is a well-known fact that the effects are not merely limited to indigestion.
Three phases of digestion during the period of pregnancy
You can go on to divide the process of digestion into three stages, the stomach, and mouth along with the colon. Each of them is being affected by the hormones of pregnancy coupled with the weight that the fetus puts. When it is the mouth, the saliva content is going to break down the food in a quick manner than when you are no longer pregnant. When there is an increase in mouth acids it could be a cause of bleeding gums along with pain in the mouth during pregnancy.
Once the food passes on to the stomach, a female is likely to notice less space than before. This problem is all the more in the ending phase of pregnancy and when it is less room, it points to the fact that smaller meals need to be consumed. In hindsight the necessary calories are consumed to ensure that a healthy baby is born.
In the last stop of digestion stands the colon. One of the reasons why constipation occurs due to pregnancy hormones. The muscles tend to be relaxed and this is mainly due to the muscles of the intestines. The food is going through the last phase of digestion. The weight of the colon also has a role in the digestive process as well. When extra weight is maintained it does mean that the contents could not be emptied as well.
If you do eat more it is going to contribute to better levels of digestion
Despite all the digestive issues that spring up during pregnancy, both the mother and the baby is going to need large number of calories. The levels of metabolism are going to increase so that the mother would need to eat more so as to aid in the development of the fetus. Pregnancy digestion medicine could put a lot of issues at the back bench.
